Privacy policy
MH Player is a media player and editor. Your local media library and editing work are processed on your device. This policy explains that local access, optional online services, and how to remove your data or contact us.
1. Who we are and how to contact us
MH Player (Android package com.certainity.mhplayer) is provided by SimpleWorldApps, operated by Ahmed Hussain in the Maldives. In this policy, we, us and our refer to that developer.
For privacy questions, concerns or deletion requests, email simpleworld603@gmail.com. You do not need an MH Player account to contact us. Please do not send passwords, access tokens or private media unless you choose to provide information needed to investigate your request.
2. Media and information used on your device
With the access you grant, MH Player reads videos, audio, images and subtitle files that you select or make available to its media library. It uses file names and locations, media identifiers, duration, size, artwork and thumbnails to find, organize, display, play and edit your media. Video rendering, trimming, effects, text overlays and exports are processed on your device; these operations do not upload your media to us.
The app stores local preferences and app records, including favorites, playlists, recent playback history, resume positions, bookmarks, playback statistics, subtitle selections, editor projects and export references. Theme, language, playback and parental-control settings are also stored locally. A parental-control PIN is stored as a hash, not as the PIN text. These records provide the features you request; we do not operate a server that receives your local library or playback history from the local-media release.
MH Player does not require registration or an MH Player account for local playback and editing. It does not sell your personal information or upload your files for advertising.
3. Device permissions
Photos, videos, music and audio access lets the app discover and open the media you permit. On supported Android versions, you can allow only selected visual media. Older Android versions use storage permissions to read files and, where needed, save exports. System file pickers can provide access to individual files you choose.
Notification and media-playback foreground-service permissions support background audio and playback controls. Wake-lock and picture-in-picture capabilities support uninterrupted playback and the floating player. Internet access supports enabled online features and external resources; it does not mean that the local media library is uploaded.
The current local-media release does not request contacts, precise location, camera capture or microphone recording permissions. You can change allowed permissions in your device's app settings. Denying access may prevent the related feature from working, but it does not require you to provide unrelated data.
4. Online features and third-party services
The ad-free MH Player 1.6.2 release prepared on 7 September 2026 has advertising, Sentry crash reporting and online subtitle search disabled. Streaming and Google Drive integration are not included in that release. Local subtitle files remain supported. The descriptions below apply only to versions where the corresponding service is available and enabled; service availability can differ in earlier versions.
Online subtitles: if an enabled version is used to search for or download subtitles, it sends the search text (which may be derived from a video filename), chosen language and, when used, a calculated movie hash to OpenSubtitles. Download requests identify the selected subtitle file. The provider receives network information such as your IP address and the app's user-agent/version. The movie itself is not uploaded by this feature. Requests use HTTPS. You can avoid these requests by using local subtitle files instead.
Advertising: a version with Google AdMob enabled can allow Google to process IP addresses, device or advertising identifiers, ad interactions and diagnostic information for ad delivery, measurement and fraud prevention. This is separate from access to your local media. Device advertising settings and any consent options offered in that version control applicable advertising choices. The ad-free 1.6.2 build does not initialize the Mobile Ads SDK.
Crash reporting: a version configured with Sentry can send error details, stack traces, app/device information and sampled performance events to diagnose failures. Error information can contain contextual data, so do not include sensitive information in support reports. In the ad-free 1.6.2 build no Sentry destination is configured and Sentry reporting is not initialized.
When you open another website or choose another app or service to handle a file, that provider handles the resulting information under its own privacy practices. Third-party providers can process information outside your country. Their retention and privacy controls are described in their policies.
5. Information you send to support
If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send, as well as ordinary email metadata. We use that information to respond, investigate problems and handle privacy requests. Our email provider processes the correspondence to deliver and store it. Do not send a full media library or unnecessary personal information.
We do not sell support correspondence. We may disclose information if necessary to comply with an applicable legal obligation or valid legal process, or to protect against abuse. We retain support information only for as long as reasonably needed to resolve and follow up on the request, address security issues or meet applicable legal obligations. You can request its deletion using the contact above.
6. Retention and deleting your data
Local preferences, history and project records remain in the app's storage until you remove them with the relevant app controls, clear the app's storage or uninstall it. Some temporary files and thumbnails may be removed by the app or operating system. Clearing only the cache is not the same as clearing all app data.
On Android, open Settings > Apps > MH Player > Storage (or Storage & cache) > Clear storage/Clear data to remove app-private records. Menu names vary by device. This also resets settings and may remove saved editor projects and app-private subtitles; save anything you need first. Uninstalling removes app-private data under the operating system's rules.
Original media, exported videos, exported playlists and other files saved in shared storage such as Movies, Music or Downloads are separate from app-private records and may remain after clearing data or uninstalling. Delete those files separately with your device's file manager or available media controls if you want to remove them. Removing an editor project does not necessarily delete its source media or an already exported file.
The current app has no MH Player account or developer-hosted media library to delete. We cannot remotely erase files held only on your device. For information you sent to us, request access, correction or deletion by emailing simpleworld603@gmail.com. Where applicable law gives you additional rights, including objection, restriction, portability or a complaint to a supervisory authority, you may exercise them through the appropriate channel. Data held independently by another provider is subject to that provider's deletion process.
7. Security
App-private records use the operating system's app storage protections. Online subtitle API requests use HTTPS. The current Android manifest disables Android's automatic app backup for this app; copies you create yourself or retain through other services remain under your control.
MH Player is not an encrypted file vault. Media saved in shared device storage can be accessible to other apps that have permission to read it. Parental controls filter access within MH Player and do not encrypt or secure the original files. No storage or transmission method is completely secure; protect your device and share files carefully.
8. Children and family use
MH Player is a general-purpose media player. The current local-media release does not create children's accounts or profiles, and it does not upload a child's media library to us. Parents and guardians can manage device permissions and the app's parental controls. Those controls are not a guarantee that all unsuitable media will be blocked.
We do not knowingly seek personal information from children through support correspondence. If you believe a child has sent us personal information that should be removed, contact simpleworld603@gmail.com so we can address the request.
9. This privacy-policy website
This page is hosted on GitHub Pages. We have not added advertising, analytics scripts, tracking pixels, external fonts, sign-in forms or cookies to this policy page. GitHub, as the hosting provider, can process ordinary web-request information such as IP addresses for delivery, operation and security under its own privacy statement. Visiting this website does not give it access to your app's local media library.
You can save a copy of this policy. Updated app releases include an offline copy with its last-updated date; that copy is refreshed through app updates. An older installed version may not have this offline copy.
10. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our data practices change and show the revised date. Material changes that require notice or consent will be communicated through appropriate app or store notices before the new processing begins. This policy was last updated on 7 September 2026.
